Direct Communications is pleased to announce that we have formed a strategic partnership with Google to host our email services. This is a very exciting change, as it will enable us to provide you with the latest email technology through Google’s dynamic suite of communication applications. Google is the world leader in email technology.
The Google migration will occur on August 10th, 2010. The new webmail link to access your email online will be http://mail.dcdi.net. We are currently in the process of copying all your old email addresses over to the secure Google servers. While your individual email account is being migrated, you will temporarily not be able to access your email. Don't panic--wait a couple of hours and try again.
Please note that your email addresses will not change, and we have worked very hard to make this change as seamless as possible. However, one small action will be required on your part--you will need to use a new temporary password the first time you log in to your email after we migrate to Google. After logging in, you will have the option of changing your password to a more familiar password. This change will not impact virtual domain customers or affect your Internet connection. We have sent out various emails and a letter via US Mail with your new temporary password. If you have not received that new password, call us at 208 548 2683 and we will help you log in to your new-look email.
Google mail will ask you to change your temporary password to a permanent password of your choice after you have logged in for the first time. If you do not log in and change your password within 30 days after the email migration, we will assume your email account is inactive and the email account will be deleted.
If you are not currently using your @dcdi.net address, please call us at 208 548 2345 or email us and let us know so that we can avoid setting up an unnecessary account with Google.
If you wish to migrate your email to the Google Mail servers immediately, please call tech support at 208 548 2683.
This change will not affect your Internet connection.
We look forward to providing you with many more years of quality connectivity and customer service. If you have any questions about this change, please visit our website at directcom.com or call 208 548 2345.
In the meantime, here’s a partial list of key features and benefits of our Google partnership:
More email storage
- You will get 6.5 Gigabytes of storage. That is over a 130 times more space than our current limit. As a result, you will be able to leave mail on the server for a very long time.
Better Spam Control
- Every mail account will have a very convenient anti-spam feature. Mail classified as spam is moved into a folder with that name. Spam not caught can be moved into that folder at the click of a button and is instantly reported to the spam-analysis servers to help adjust your anti-spam profile. Similarly, legitimate email incorrectly classified as spam can be moved from the spam folder to the inbox at the click of a button. The same analysis procedure takes place to adjust your profile and you also have the option of white listing the sender. All of this is done without having to check any other website or web pages.
New web portal
- Powered by Google and offering a mix of news, sports, entertainment, weather and many other customizable features not previously available
Google Talk
- Instant messaging & voice calls
Google Calendar
- Schedule meetings, share calendars and communicate more effectively
Google Docs
- Create online documents and collaborate with others in real-time across the globe
Access
- You will be able to access their information anywhere, anytime – including email access via mobile devices such as a Blackberry or cell phone. You will still be able to access your mail via traditional email programs as well as taking advantage of the web-based mail interface.
Reliability
- Google has an incredibly reliable, fast and robust email service, complete with anti-spam and anti-virus protection
Please look out for additional information from us about this email change. We appreciate your business. Thank you for choosing Direct Communications. If you have any questions about your new email service, please call 208 548 2345.
Sincerely,
